Exceptional Golf is the Essence of the Atlanta Country Club
Always challenging and exciting, always rewarding a well-played game. Our members agree; the more you play our championship course, the more you appreciate it.
The heart of Atlanta Country Club is our world class golf course. Since 1968, Golf Digest and other distinguished national publications have consistently ranked the ACC course as one of "America's 100 greatest Golf Courses." We have a rich history of tournament participation, having hosted the PGA and USGA events. For 30 years we hosted the Atlanta Classic, a PGA event. The inaugural Tournament Players Championship, the USGA Women's Amateur and Senior Men's Amateur were also held at the Atlanta Country Club.
Since the club’s founding in 1964, all of our ACC golf professionals have exhibited the essence of golf. Our Head Golf Professional is Scott Schroeder, who joined us in May, 2010. Scott is an experienced Head Professional, an accomplished player and excellent teacher. Former head golf professionals include: Davis Love Jr. (1965 to 1977) a skilled player and renowned teacher; John Gerring (1978 to 1992) a PGA Master Professional and was 1981 PGA Professional of the year; and Bill Johnstone (1993 to 2009) a well-respected PGA Master Professional.
Mark Esoda, who has been our Golf Course Superintendent since 1990, received the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America's 2009 Colonel John Morley Distinguished Service Award. First presented in 1932, the award is given to individuals who have made an outstanding, substantive and enduring contribution to the advancement of the golf course superintendent profession. In 2011 Mark was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame. During his tenure at ACC, our club hosted seven PGA TOUR events and he has overseen the rebuilding efforts of all green complexes, bunkers and irrigation system.
As you can see, Atlanta Country Club has a rich tradition and history in the world of golf, and a very exciting future as well.
