Hole 1
The opening hole sets up the entire golf course perfectly. The golfer can see the entire hole from the tee, easily identifying both trouble and safety. A slight dogleg to the left, bunkers guard both sides of the fairway as well as the green. The green offers some incredibly challenging hole locations, especially since the 2nd shot plays uphill.

Hole 2
A classic three shot hole, this dogleg right par 5 challenges the golfer around each corner. Trees frame the tee shot while a lone approach bunker challenges any errant layup shot. No relaxing on the third shot either, any miss of this green brings bogey or worse into the picture.

Hole 3
Forty feet above a testing green the golfer must navigate even the slightest breath of wind here at number three. Precision is a must as trouble surrounds the green on all sides.

Hole 4
One look down the fairway of number four and the golfer realizes why it is the number one handicap hole. Water runs down the left side and a bunker covers the right, forcing a confident swing to start the hole. The same water also demands attention on the second shot, sneaking in deceptively closer to the green than it appears. Don't bail too far right, where the green side bunkers are no bargain either.

Hole 5
Number five may look benign from the tee, but don't let that fool you. The fairway is wide, but very undulating, making a mid-to long iron shot to the green that much more difficult. Don't be long with your second shot; Sope Creek awaits any overzealous shots.

Our resident Major Champion Larry Nelson calls this "one of the hardest Par 3s in Georgia," and said he has never aimed anywhere other than the center of the green. That's a great strategy considering trouble lurks long, short, left, and right.

Hole 7
Just because number seven isn't over 400 yards doesn't mean that is a pushover. A tee shot with laser-like precision and a well- judged second shot are the minimum requirements for a chance at par. The fairway slopes severely from left to right towards Sope Creek and the two-tiered green is very narrow. Don't let the yardage on the scorecard fool you, this hole requires all of your attention.

Gently bending to the right and uphill, number eight is another par 5 that offers plenty of difficulty on each shot. The golfer must avoid a penalizing bunker off the tee, and then navigate a lay-up away from the pot bunker in the middle of the fairway. From there, a semi blind third shot to another two tiered green awaits.

Former PGA Tour player and ACC Member Joe Inman says that number nine has "the biggest death-trap bunker on the entire golf course." Hardly any golfer that finds this left side fairway bunker gets the next shot anywhere close to the uphill green.

Though the tee shot here at number 10 is visually challenging, the brave golfer can take it over the left hand bunker and catch the speed slot for some extra yardage. You'll need all the help you can get from the tee shot, the approach shot plays from a downhill lie to the most challenging green complex on the golf course.

Hole 11
A true three-shot par 5 in every sense, number eleven can play in excess of 600 yards! The great challenge of this hole is the third shot. The green can lull you to sleep according to Georgia State Golf Association Executive Director and ACC Member Mike Waldron, but it provides some extremely challenging hole locations. Sometimes it can be as hard to putt to some of those locations as it is hitting to them from the fairway!

Hole 12
Number twelve is one of the harder tee shots to navigate. The golfer must avoid the fairway bunkers on the right, as well as rough "moguls" on the left. The second shot is no bargain either; it plays deceivingly more downhill than it appears.

The most scenic hole on the golf course is proof positive that a par 3 doesn't have to be 250 yards to be challenging. At 153 yards straight downhill, club selection is premium to this two tiered green. The wind must also be judged correctly, for the penalty is a visit to the drop zone. As a bonus just down the slope right of the tee box the remains of Confederate paper mills offer a visit back in time.

Hole 14
The strategy on number fourteen starts from the green back to the tee. The hole location will dictate what and where the golfer hits off the tee box. Navigating the right hand bunker off the tee is made more difficult with the right to left sloping fairway, exaggerating any miss too far left.

Hole 15
Technology has made some historically challenging holes easier over the last decade, but not this one. This is the most difficult tee shot on the golf course, hands down. A creek runs down the entire right side before cutting across the fairway, 25 yards short of the green. This creek bends with the dogleg to the right, making the golfer think they can cut off more than is acceptable. Anyone that knocks it on this hole in two has achieved a great feat, as making par here often picks one up on the field..

Number sixteen is unassumingly challenging, you often don't realize that you've made bogey until you've arrived on seventeen tee! The unbelievably sloping green complex offers many challenging hole locations that make par a challenging mission.

Just plain old hard, number seventeen offers no relief on any shot. The tee shot penalizes right misses with out of bounds and left misses with trees and fescue. From there, a daunting green with surrounding bunkers protect any hole location. Good luck.

Hole 18
Not that we're biased, but number eighteen is one of the best par 5s in the world. From the tee it looks easier than it is, but don't be fooled, your nerves will be tested. An exacting tee shot around the corner is greeted with a challenging second shot, whether you're laying up or not. The severely sloped green makes any shot, long or short, an extreme challenge. Rounds have been ruined here by poor strategy, in addition to poor execution.
